Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup Panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp whole milk
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp cracked black pepper
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- In a separate small bowl, stir the milk into the breadcrumbs and let them sit for 2 minutes to hydrate.
- Add the ground beef and ground pork to a large mixing bowl.
- Add the beaten egg, the hydrated breadcrumbs, Parmesan, and the pre-mixed garlic seasoning to the meat.
- Using your hands or a fork, gently fold the ingredients together until no more streaks of seasoning are visible; do not over-knead.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Scoop roughly 2 tbsp of mixture and roll gently into 1.5-inch balls, placing them on the sheet without touching.
- Bake for 18-22 minutes until the exterior is mahogany-colored and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
