Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 packet beef gravy mix
  • 1 packet French onion soup mix
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 medium yellow onion, sliced
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, gently combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix with your hands just until combined to avoid making the meatballs dense.
  2. Roll the beef mixture into 1.5-inch balls.
  3. Place the sliced yellow onions at the bottom of the slow cooker to create a natural rack.
  4. Arrange the meatballs in a single or slightly overlapping layer over the onions.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together beef broth, beef gravy mix, onion soup mix, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
  6. Pour the liquid mixture evenly over the meatballs until they are mostly submerged.
  7. Cover and cook on High for 4 hours or Low for 8 hours.
  8. Mix 2 tbsp cornstarch and 2 tbsp water into a slurry and stir it in during the last 30 minutes of cooking until the gravy is thick and glossy.
