This Privacy Policy explains what information Top Slow Cookers (topslowcookers.com) collects when you visit the site, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what choices you have. We keep data collection to what is needed to run a recipe website: answering your messages, publishing the comments and ratings you submit, keeping the site secure and understanding which recipes people read.

1. Information We Collect
We collect information in four ways. The details below cover what each one includes.
Contact form
When you write to us through the contact form, we receive your name, your email address and the message you type. We use this information only to read your message and reply to you. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not use your message for any other purpose.
Recipe ratings and comments
If you rate a recipe or leave a comment, we receive the name you enter and the text you submit. Comments and ratings are visible to other visitors, so please do not include sensitive personal information, your email address or anything else you would not want to be public. Use a first name or nickname if you prefer.
Server logs
Like most websites, our web server automatically records standard log data when a page is requested: your IP address, your browser type and the pages requested. We use this information for security and troubleshooting, for example to detect abusive traffic or to find the cause of an error.
Visit statistics
We measure visits with a first-party system that runs on our own server. It records the page viewed and the referrer (the site or page that led you to us). Raw visit records are kept for 7 days, after which only daily totals remain. We use these totals to see which recipes and categories are useful to readers and which need improvement.
3. Third-Party Services and Links
Cloudflare
Requests to our site pass through Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver content and filter harmful traffic. Cloudflare handles that data under its own privacy policy.
Social profiles
We link to our Pinterest profile. When you follow that link, you leave our site and Pinterest's own privacy policy applies to anything you do there. We do not control how Pinterest handles your data.
Advertising
We do not describe advertising partners here because none are listed in our current setup. If we add advertising or additional analytics services in the future, we will name them on this page and, where required, ask for your consent before they collect data. 4. How We Use Your Information
- To reply to messages sent through the contact form.
- To display the ratings and comments you submit.
- To keep the site secure, prevent abuse and fix technical problems.
- To understand which pages are read so we can improve recipes and navigation.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
5. Legal Basis and Consent (EEA and UK Visitors)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your data on these bases: your request, when you contact us and we reply (steps taken at your request); our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website and understanding its use, using the limited server logs and first-party statistics described above; and your consent, when you choose to submit a comment or rating.
Where we ever rely on consent for non-essential cookies or technologies, we will ask for it before they are used, and you can withdraw it at any time.
6. Data Retention
- Visit statistics: raw visit records are kept for 7 days, then only daily totals remain.
- Contact messages: kept for as long as needed to answer you and handle any follow-up, then deleted.
- Comments and ratings: kept while they remain on the recipe page, or until you ask us to remove them.
- Server logs: kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting.
7. GDPR Data Protection Rights
If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification: ask us to correct information you believe is inaccurate.
- Erasure: ask us to delete your personal data, under certain conditions.
- Restriction: ask us to limit how we process your data.
- Objection: object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Portability: request your data in a structured, commonly used format where applicable.
- Withdrawal of consent: withdraw any consent you have given, at any time.
- Complaint: lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
We respond to requests within one month.
8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use and disclose about you.
- Request access to the specific pieces of personal information we hold.
- Request deletion of personal information we have collected from you.
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm your identity, for example by matching the email address you used to write to us, and we respond within 45 days.
9. Children's Privacy
Top Slow Cookers is a general-audience recipe site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the contact form or a comment, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We protect the site with Cloudflare's security services and limit access to the data we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information you give us.
11. Changes to This Policy
